Waiver
All skaters are required to fill out and sign a liability release waiver upon checking-in for your session. A parent or guardian must sign for any children under the age of 18. To make check-in smoother and quicker, you can download and print the waiver and bring the completed waiver with you. If you do not have access to a printer, we have waiver forms available at the skating office when you check-in. All Skaters skate at their own risk.
Parking
Parking is limited to a total of 25 spaces and every space is reserved for each session. There are 14 parking spaces in the lower lot including one ADA Van accessible space, and 11 parking spaces in the upper lot.
Please do not arrive by car without a reservation as this will cause parking problems.
Parking spaces are only to be used during your scheduled session. Please do not arrive earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled session as this will allow time for the previous guests to vacate the parking lot after their session has ended. Please vacate your parking space promptly upon returning your rental skates so it is ready for the next session of skaters.
If you are arriving without a car, or do not require a parking space, please check-in with the rink staff for session availability.
Upon arriving, please proceed to the green building with the sign, “Columbia ‘Ice’ Skating Park,” to check-in and pickup your rental skates.
Rentals
Ice skate sizes range from children’s size 7 to adult size 12. Please note that Adult skates are Men's sizes. Women's sizes are approximately 1.5 sizes smaller. When booking your reservation online, you will be prompted to select the skate sizes for your party. Sizes that are sold out for the session will not be available for selection.
You will be required to leave your driver’s license when picking up your skates and will be returned to you when all skates from your party are returned.
Socks are required for all rental skates (crew socks or taller are encouraged). We recommend wearing thick socks or bring an extra pair of socks. Rental skates are thoroughly disinfected with Lysol after each rental.
For beginning skaters under 48 inches tall, we offer Skating Helpers: Penguin & Polar Bear Helpers that glide with the skater along the ice and help with balance and control. Skaters must be able to stand on their own and push the Helper by themselves. Others cannot push them. For safety considerations, Skating Helpers cannot be rented to anyone taller than 48". They may be paid for when checking-in and picking up your skates. Price is $5 for each Skating Helper.
You may bring your own pair of hockey skates, but they must be sharp to glide effectively on the synthetic ice surface. Figure skates, or skates with toe-picks are not allowed as they can damage the surface of the rink. Note: The synthetic surface may dull the blade more than natural ice and we recommend sharpening your blades before and after skating. The Columbia “Ice” Skating Park will not be responsible for any loss and/or damage to your skates during your visit.
Synthetic Ice
The Columbia “Ice” Skating Park features a 70ft x 40ft synthetic ice rink. What is synthetic ice? It is a solid polymer material designed for skating using normal metal-bladed ice skates. The rink is constructed with interlocking, self-lubricating panels that provide a smooth and seamless surface, and requires no water or electricity to operate. Synthetic ice closely mimics the feel of real ice with an 85-90% glide equivalent and requires a little more effort to skate than real ice. The biggest difference is that synthetic ice wears down the skate blade faster than real ice which requires frequent sharpening, whereas the skate blade wears down the surface of real ice faster which requires frequent resurfacing. We keep our rental skates sharpened and our rink surface clean for the best skating experience.

What to Wear
The key to comfortable skating is to wear layers; temperature may range from chilly to warm, depending on the time of day, the number of skaters and the amount of energy one exerts. When skating during the day, we recommend wearing sunglasses and sunblock due to the bright reflective surface of the rink. Gloves and hats always help on colder days.

We remain open in light to moderate rain but may close in heavy and sustained rain at the discretion of the Rink management. No refunds or rain checks will be issued for tickets purchased at the door, but rain checks will be honored for tickets purchased online in advance.
If a manager determines that the ice is un-skateable due to inclement weather or has suspended skating due to hazardous conditions (storms, lightning), rain checks may be issued as follows:
-
Rain checks will be issued when the ice rink becomes un-skateable due to extreme weather or dangerous conditions such as lightning, high winds or standing water on the ice.
-
Rain checks expire 60 days from the date of issue.
-
Rink management reserves the right to determine when these conditions warrant closing of the ice rink and whether or not rain checks are to be issued
-
Rain checks cannot be replaced if lost or stolen
-
Rain Checks will only be issued because of inclement weather or emergencies requiring skater(s) to leave immediately
